Songbird Juliana Kanyamozi was set to headline at the Soul RnB Safari Baileys Picnic slated for 7th May 2022 at the Kampala Serena Hotel before she pulled out of the event.
Jazz Safari CEO and event organizer had held a press conference and the Nabikoowa singer Julana had confirmed that she will be there to entertain her fans at the Baileys sponsored event.
A few days after the press conference, Juliana wrote on her official instagram platform that she would not be performing at that same event because of what she called gaps in alignment between the parties involved.
She later expounded on the reason she pulled out of the event in an interview run on NBS tv, she said that the organizers told her that she would be performing at a private event of about 200 guests and she would do 4-5 songs only for her to see posters with tickets being sold at 120k which was t in the agreement.
Asked whether she would be refunding the 8million Uganda shillings she had received as deposit now that she wasn’t part of the event, she said no there wasn’t a refund.
“The way we operate is that if you give us a deposit, we start using it right away to prepare for the event, we attended his press conference, we had started doing rehearsals with Mike Ouma, which money do you think we were using?” It’s the deposit she said.
“It’s also written clearly on the receipt that the deposit is none refundable just like any other business so we are not breaking any laws” she concluded.
It now remains to be seen if the organizers will seek legal help in courts of law or will let it pass and count their losses!
