Its the music producers that have stagnated our music- Sheilah Gashumba cuts through Ugandan music producers

Following the selling out of Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold’s Concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, a number of Ugandans and artists have come out to express their disappointment.

This is due to the fact that foreigners have continued to dominate the airwaves and concerts locally. However Ugandan music is barely able to cross borders such that it can match the prowess of their African competitors especially the Nigerians.

And according to Sheilah Gashumba, it’s high time Ugandan music producers started taking the blame too for failing Ugandan music. They have continued to produce Kidandali beats even after realizing that they aren’t going anywhere. She advised some of these artists who can afford to seek out some talented producers abroad.

“I feel for me it has always been the sound and I was about to tweet it. I feel we shouldn’t crucify our artists as much. Its high time the producers too start taking the blame. These producers are still doing the whole Kidandali we all realized doesn’t work well out there. So what I would advise these artists if they have some money is to seek out some of the foreign producers to elevate their music careers,” said Sheilah.
