Former Premier League referee David Coote has been given an eight-week suspension by the Soccer Affiliation for feedback made about ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on social media.

Coote, who was sacked by the Premier League in December 2024, has been additional sanctioned by the FA for an “aggravated breach” of rule E3.2, due to the reference he made to Klopp’s nationality within the video.

The clip, which was filmed round July 2020, was leaked on-line in November 2024.

Coote admitted the cost.

The FA’s written causes for the decision mentioned Coote expressed “deep regret” and acknowledged his feedback had been “crass and inappropriate”.

In addition to his suspension, Coote should bear a compulsory face-to-face schooling programme.

The 42-year-old was initially suspended in November 2024 when the web clip confirmed him making derogatory feedback about Klopp and Liverpool.

Coote was additionally banned in February by Uefa from officiating in European competitors till 30 June 2026.
