Kenya’s former President Kibaki passes on

Former Kenya President Mwai Kibaki has passed on at the age of 90 years. The development was confirmed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday.

“Kibaki lives on in our fond memories of his strength of will, his charm, his wit and his passionate love for God, for family and for the nation,” Uhuru Kenyatta said

Kibaki served as Kenya’s President from 2003 to 2013 and is credited with reviving Kenya’s economy.

In 2007, violence erupted across the country following his re-election and many lost their lives.

Current Kenya President Kenyatta who replaced Kibaki has also ordered a mourning period to honour the late and flags in the country will be flown at half mast.
